Welcome to the Knights of Ancient War guild on US-Arathor-Alliance! We're a growing casual guild focused on leveling, progression, and having a great, fun time playing Warcraft. We're always looking for mature, fun, and interesting new members to join our adventures around the Warcraft universe.

Want to join? PST Richheart, BigLou, Pathriel, Canus, Kaisura, Qildyla, or Ashyni in game for a chat and informal interview. We'll probably ask you to run Reg VH just to see how well we all get along.

If you are a member of our guild please join this site with the same name as your MAIN toon.

By joining this site, you also agree with the rules of our guild. These rules can be found by clicking this link.

Breaking News

The folks at WoWhead have put together one of the nicest character profilers ever. Go look yourself up. Here's an example, using Pathriel's profile. Especially take note of items missing gems and enchants. Our guild has tailors, leatherworkers, enchanters, and jewelcrafters, all of whom will work for free with your mats to get you geared. Please take advantage of their services, determine what you need for things like gems, mail them the mats, and get geared up.

Midsummer Fire Festival is on! Make sure you do all the basic fire honoring/desecrating quests both on your main and alt. The mains if they're 80s will earn about 600g. Alts should level at least once from the XP.

Also, in case you haven't read the latest patch notes for patch 3.2, all heroics will be granting Emblems of Conquest as soon as the patch goes live. This means you'll be able to buy Tier 8.5 Ulduar-quality gear from running heroics.

How many Emblems of Conquest will you need for new, shiny, purple gear? 540, according to MMO Champion. As such, let's plan on a heroic every day - Violet Hold or Nexus at the least.

Attention all guild members, especially level 80s - be sure to check out your specs on sites like be.imba.hu to see what items need enchants, upgrades, etc. They may not be the easiest sites to work with, but they do deliver solid info about how to max out your character. Hey, you've leveled to 80, which is the hard part - now it's time to squeeze every last drop of performance out of your toon!

Elwynn's Darkmoon Faire is coming to an end on 6/15. Buy up anything you need before then!

The next major world event is Midsummer Festival - no easy gold stuff per se but plenty of achievements.

For the miners in the guild, check out this fabulous Howling Fjord Cobalt Route!

Patch 3.1.2 is bringing some changes to Wintergrasp - honor and shards are now weekly quests instead of dailies, so you'll have less reason to be there on a routine basis. Also be aware that vehicles will now scale in terms of power and health based on your level and gear.

Our most recent mostly-guild, little bit PuG run of Heroic Violet Hold results are in.

Our most recent guild heroic run results are in!

We're running Heroic Violet Hold nearly every night now for reputation gains (slap on those tabards!) and loot. Groups seem to form up around 9 PM ET/6 PM Server, so if you want in and you're level 80, be sure to be logged on.

Looking for an easy 100 gold a day? Take a look at the Argent Tournament's dailies. Yes, they have you trekking all over Northrend, but most of the dailies grant reputation gains plus 13g 23s. Once you're a champion of one Alliance city, you get Argent quests PLUS the ability to build up to champion for another Alliance city. Do all your dailies and you should be at roughly 100 gold per day, not counting any drops.

Darkmoon Faire has opened in Shattrath City (just south of the city, actually). If you're in the game to make a little gold, the Faire is a great way to get started.

What should be your Darkmoon Faire strategy? First, now is the time to install Auctioneer Suite and start daily scans of the Auction House, to build up a solid pricing database on your server. Remember that every server’s economy is a little different, so global pricing data on sites like WowHead and WowEcon may not apply to your server.

Second, set your alarm clocks. The best time to camp Darkmoon Faire is typically in the very early morning. Aim for the time period in which the fewest people are logged onto your server. For example, in the US realms, 3-6 AM Eastern seems to be about the best time - it’s midnight or later on Pacific Coast time, obscenely early on East Coast time, and not many folks are logged on.

Third, set up your bank alts. If you don’t have alternate characters, now is the time to max out all 10 allowed extra characters on your realm. Each character gets a 16 slot backpack plus a 32 slot bank. You’ll need to get your new characters to a capital city - Stormwind City, Exodar, Darnassus, Ironforge, Orgrimmar, Undercity, Thunder Bluff, or Silvermoon City. Each city has a bank. Once in the city, park your alt at the mailbox closest to the bank.

Fourth, amass some investing capital. Remember that when Darkmoon Faire is in either Thunder Bluff or Stormwind, prices drop on the items sold at the Faire, so your plan is to buy and hold, rather than buy and flip in the Auction House immediately. (as opposed to Darkmoon in Shattrath, which is harder to get to and therefore has fewer buyers) If you can gather 100-200 gold in advance, you’ll be able to make the most of the event. You don’t need that much - certainly you can do a lot with less - but it’s a sure base to work with.

Fifth, hit up the Faire as often as you can. The three vendors you want to pay attention to are Lhara, Darkmoon Faire Exotic Goods, Professor Thaddeus Paleo (he shares a booth with Lhara), and Flik, a hyperactive boy who sells frogs. Buy out their inventories as they make sense. Limited quantity items are for sale and timers on those items typically reset every 20-30 minutes.

A special word of warning: not everything these vendors sell is a deal! Some items will sell in your server’s auction house for much, much more than the Darkmoon Faire price, making them great buys. Some will sell for LESS than Auction House prices, making them losers every time. For example, on Arathor-US, the gems sold by the Professor are bought at 12 gold, but typically sell in AH for 6-9 gold. These are sucker bets. That’s why Step 1 - the Auctioneer Suite plus a month of solid pricing data - is so essential. That’s the only way you’ll ever know if you’re getting a deal or robbing yourself.

Sixth, stockpile in quantity the items that sell well on your server. Buy and mail everything to your bank alts until you’re out of investing capital or bag space on your alts. Waut a few days after Darkmoon Faire for the newbie investors to finish immediately flipping their goods, then start listing popular items in your AH. Collect your profits, and get ready for other major world events.

Children's Week has begun! More like gold making week for the savvy investor. Here's what's hot:

1. Delicious chocolate cake. If you have this ultra-rare drop recipe from the cooking dailies, gather your mats and start selling. Ashyni sold 3 cakes on the first day of Children's week for 136 gold EACH.

2. If you don't have the cake recipe, not to fear. Level up your cooking to tasty cupcake, and make a few of those. They're selling for 3-5g each.

3. If you don't have any cooking skills, farm up these ingredients:
- Small eggs - required for chocolate cake
- Northern eggs - required for tasty cupcake
- Mageroyal - required for chocolate cake

4. Are you a mage? Children's Week involves schlepping an orphan all over the place. People are paying 5g-15g per portal so stock up and open your travel agency. Not a mage? Your best bet is to set your hearthstone in Dalaran or Shattrath City to get to all the places you need to go.

Noblegarden has begun! Having trouble gathering eggs? Two suggestions: during high traffic times, find a spawn point that can be camped, as eggs constantly refresh. During peak server time, an egg will rez in less than 30 seconds. Ideally, find a spawn point that is close to another - in Azure Watch near the Exodar, there are several spots to sit that are within range of 3 egg spawns.

Second suggestion - log in obscenely early or late when traffic is low. Again, Azure Watch seems to be best for this - run a circuit around the outer perimeter of Azure Watch (so you're looking at the backsides of buildings) and loot eggs at will. I looted around 150 eggs this morning from 5 AM ET - 6 AM ET and knocked down a few achievements.

Season 6 gear is coming out along with Arena Season 6. If you've been running Wintergrasp (you have, haven't you?) and have honor points stacked up, some new upgrades are now available. Check out this article on MMO Champion.

Here is the gear that requires NO team/arena rating, just straight honor:

Hateful Gloves
Hateful Legs
Hateful Chest
Hateful Helm
Hateful Shoulders
Hateful Ring
Hateful Trinket
Deadly Bracer
Deadly Belt
Deadly Boots
Deadly Neck
Deadly Ring
Deadly Cape
Deadly Trinket

You should have close to a full set of purples available to you just with honor points, Stone Keeper's Shards, or Wintergrasp marks.
Remember: Wintergrasp and its 2000-9000 honor points per battle (depending on whether you complete/turn in any dailies and the Alliance wins) is the FASTEST way to get epic purple gear for your toon without spending a fortune or living in PuGs, hoping for a drop.

Heya guildies. I think we should all thank Pathriel for the excellent job is doing to help make our guild experience better. Starting this web site is just another example of what we can do to have more fun and to communicate with each other.
